چکیده
Chronic exposure to high biofloc total suspended solids (TSS) could affect growth, red blood cells, and generate gill alterations in fish. Red pacu, Piaractus brachypomus, fry (2.7 ± 0.5 g weight) were exposed different TSS concentrations with low (T1: 200–300), medium (T2: 400–600 mg/L) levels compared a treatment control (TC) without during 45-day period 50 L experimental units (in quadruplicate). Water quality, productive parameters, cell values, histopathological alteration index (HAI) assessed. pacu reached higher final biomass (11.34 0.73 kg/m3), better growth (DWG = 0.30 0.03 g/day) food conversion rate (1.05 0.02) TC than treatments (p < .05). T2 had RBC count, lower hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration .05) T1 TC. The histological sections of gills showed monogenean parasites quantity; thus, the HAI value was similar among corresponded damage. Growth, morphology fingerlings affected by moderate (400–600 chronic biofloc.

Sub-acute Exposure to Benzene Accelerates the Aging Process of Red Blood Cells; an In vivo Study
Background: The well-known toxic effects of benzene toxicity are bone marrow depression, reduction in blood cell counts, and induction of leukemia and aplastic anemia. This study was designed to evaluate biomarkers of aging in red blood cells (RBCs). Methods: Mice were exposed to benzene (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day) orally for 28 days. A group of benzene-exposed mice were injected intraperiton...
متن کاملSurface Coating of Red Blood Cells with Monomethoxy poly(ethylene glycol) Activated with Two Different Reagents
Methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) with molecular mass of 5 kDa activated with succinimidyl carbonate and cyanuric chloride, separately was covalently attached to human red blood cells (RBCs). Inhibition of agglutination by blood-type specific antisera (anti-D) was employed to evaluate the effect of the polymer coating. The remaining single cells after incubation with anti-D sera were cou...
متن کاملRegulation of phosphatidylserine exposure in red blood cells.
The exposure of phosphatidylserine (PS) on the outer membrane leaflet of red blood cells (RBCs) serves as a signal for eryptosis, a mechanism for the RBC clearance from blood circulation. The process of PS exposure was investigated as function of the intracellular Ca(2+) content and the activation of PKCα in human and sheep RBCs. Cells were treated with lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), 4-bromo-A231...
متن کاملeffects of long-term exposure to hydrogen sulfide on human red blood cells
background: hydrogen sulfide (h 2 s) exhibits both physiological and toxicological roles in the biological systems. acute exposure to high levels of h 2 s is life threatening while long-term exposure to ambient levels of h 2 s elicits human health effects. objective: to study the harmful effects of long-term exposure to low levels of h 2 s on human blood cells. methods: 110 adult workers from i...
